I took Sido to Disneyland Paris in June of 2014. Neither of us had been to Disneyland before. I bought her an Anna costume the second day and she wore it the rest of the trip. Every morning I brushed and plaited her hair while we sat on the bed together and she watched Scooby Doo in German. Our hotel had an amazing pool with water slides. The first Disney parade we went to made me cry.
"I wish we lived in Disneyland Paris."
"I would need to work. I'd have to get a job in Disneyland. Maybe I could work in a cafe."
(Wistfully) "No—you could sell cotton candy."
November, 2013. We took a 12 hour train from Berlin to Budapest and stayed at the Hotel Corvin on Angyal utca. There we visited the zoo, beautiful bath houses, and many cafés with delicious, elaborate cakes. One afternoon Sido, Alvie, and I rode the children's railway and then took a harrowing ride down a mountain on a chairlift together. On the last day we lingered too long drawing on postcards over breakfast and had to sprint with the stroller for 20 minutes across town, managing to leap on our train 15 seconds before it left the station.
